I was driving with my oldest daughter today, and I told her I was going to look in the local music store today. She said fine because she needed a mouthpiece for her alto sax. I was having a ball playing an Ibanez four with the reverse split pickup/single configuration that has such a great slap tone. I was sitting thinking how I could buy it when my daughter told me how much she liked the sax she had just been playing. I already knew she needed a better sax for her senior year, plus she wants to be in marching band in college, so goodbye bass and hello professional grade alto sax. My big girl plays soprano too, I better put aside some money for one of those too.

I am happy to upgrade my daughter's sax. She is first chair on the concert band, and she loves concert and marching band. I want her to join Jazz band because improvisation mystifies her right now. Her little sister is serious as a heart attack on clarinet. I have to buy a portable piano, and these girls need to learn bass guitar too.
Somebody has to play them when I am gone.

I pray I am blessed to grow old, stay independent, and quickly drop dead when the time comes. I know I would not be allowed to keep my basses or my knife collection in a home.

I should have typed goodbye bass, not "good buy" bass. I am picking up the sax after Christmas. She will have it for Spring semester in January.

A big thumbs up to you. One oh the coolest things my dad ever did for me was up grade my trombone from a beginner instrument to a pro level instrument that I played through high school and through college as a music major. He just recently passed away. Only just one of many things I'll never forget!!!!!

The Ibanez PJ bass - similar to the SR750 with the Nordstrand pickups? Yeah, that thing is awesome.

But it's always better to invest in your kids than a bass guitar. Higher risk, but higher return. Also, you get to jam with two saxophone players! Absolutely the right choice.

It is a used Ibanez with the Nordstrands, but it's not like I don't have Basses already.
