My GAS has met its match.

I was driving with my oldest daughter today, and I told her I was going to look in the local music store today. She said fine because she needed a mouthpiece for her alto sax. I was having a ball playing an Ibanez four with the reverse split pickup/single configuration that has such a great slap tone. I was sitting thinking how I could buy it when my daughter told me how much she liked the sax she had just been playing. I already knew she needed a better sax for her senior year, plus she wants to be in marching band in college, so goodbye bass and hello professional grade alto sax. My big girl plays soprano too, I better put aside some money for one of those too.

Yeah, my old gio still has the best slap feel and sound I've played on. Even against stingrays. And, they're cheap. It's got the reverse P. I think it really does help to even the tone across the strings. I've been thinking about reversing my talman.

In your case that's something to feel proud of. You've stepped beyond the present and are now enabling the future. If there's any sure form of immortality to be had, it's to be found in doing that.

As a Dad that's what we do. Their world is more important than ours now. But the joy on her face when she gets that sax will make you forget there was ever a bass in mind.

I never had any kids (big regret) but I would like to think I would have been as nice to my kids as you seem to be to yours.

It can be a Mr. Holland's Opus experience. I have a set of interests that are really broad -- from different sports, camping, outdoors, canoeing, hiking, music, and the list goes on and on and on -- all over the map -- and my kids are into almost none of them. They found different interests and pursue those.

I don't know doc, saxophones are gear and you need to acquire one or two... Sounds pretty GASsy to me!

I just got reeeeeeeeeally close to buying a bass. Then I remembered we're getting the Fingers girls a digital piano for Christmas. Music money is tied up for now. But I'm so excited and proud that they're into music!

I will always remember the time my Dad helped me to finance my first bass and amp, and he helped start me on a musical journey that is now at 40 years plus. My point is that what you did for your daughter she will always remember, and that is called making memories...Very Cool to put her ahead of yourself!

Dude, reverse P everything is awesome. I'm really itching on an SR650. I just got rid of my 605 last week. Realized after 6 years, that I dont care for 5ers. And, I still love PJs. Itll be my next instrument. Probably a main player. Unless I can get a screaming deal on one of those new white fender "P"s (pjs that they're calling the new precisions)

If it's assisted living you can keep about 5 basses in the closet no problemo and have something like a 100w 12" maybe the tiltable Ampeg behind a chair, nobody will even know it's there. You may never technically stop playing. A knife collection has other issues associated with it, of course.
