I think you have a very talented son and you should be very proud of him. And also thrilled with the new axe, but that is a secondary consideration...
I think you have one hell of a kid.
That is one sweet looking guitar looks like it could have come from a high end custom maker..Nice clean lines little bit of flare..Now rock that thing..
Dude. Sweet. Apart from the guitar, that’s considerable thought and effort - for anyone, particularly a 16/yo.
I'm impressed. At that age I made a crappy spice rack in shop class.
Very nice. If you haven't already, buy him tools! 
I think I would be a very proud papa!!! Now...we just need to convince him to turn away from the dark side and start building Basses
If your 16 year old son made that, he is one incredibly skilled young man. Please tell me he wants to be a luthier for a living, or maybe to make high-end bespoke furniture, or something like that. It would be a shame for that much talent to end up working the Walmart music department, or flipping burgers.

Ever think of a possible Father son project making a frame to hang it? If my kid made something like that... it'd be not only a player... but a wall hanger I'd show off till the day he inherits it. I'd have buddies drooling over it for years.
