"I want to play bass!"
Well you can imagine my excitement,so I immediately began my search for his first bass to call his own. He had told me that he really liked my Stingrays, but I wasn't going to buy him a new one, just incase he changed his mind. Plus I'm a 5 string player and he wanted a 4 stringer. So I settled on a Sub, and found a great deal. It will be here tomorrow, so I promise pics. You have no idea how happy and proud I am.
Let's just say that his first bass puts mine to shame BIG time! My first bass was a no name on the headstock made in Korea JAzz bass copy that cost $80.
My son has told me the same and he is just 5. I cannot practice while he is awake if I really need to practice. He needs to have his turn. Right now I am on a quest for a kid scale bass for him. They are really hard to find.

Congrats! When my, now ten year old, son said that to me I was beside myself with happiness. Now he's in the school orchestra, has 2 electrics (& wants a fretless 5 or 6) and plays latin percussion. Of course, I made sure the first two recordings he heard were Heavy Weather and Miles' Tutu. Had nothing to do with it I'm sure.

Awesome! My dad is a bassist and he was also reaaaally happy when I told him I wanted to play. 2 and a half years later, I'm teaching him how to slap!
That what I said to MY mom, and she said NO WAY are you bring DRUMS in this house, pick something else. The rest is history...
My son showed interest in bass so I gave him my 1997 Shoreline Gold MIA Jazz Deluxe 5.
