My Most Expensive Bass Ever..

:hmm: Hmmm this can be approached two ways ...

06 RIC 4001 C64 McCartney cost me a cool 2k ... with flats on it one of the best recording basses ever.

My LeCompte VB-4 was a custom build with Dark Star pickup at just over 1.8k worth every $$$

The Lakland Bob Glaub USA one of a kind Bass in Gold metallic custom "Adam Clayton" Jazz taper black block neck and factory installed Dark Star pickup, a total keeper at 1.8k used (as new)

And now for the ones I bought CHEAP! ... that may be worth more than I paid?

1968 Fender Precision all original bought some 10 years ago for $500.00

1975 Fender Jazz Bass all original I aquired only about 2 months ago for $600.00

1976 Fender Jazz (not original) with dual Dark Star pickups pickups $600.00 including pickups

Best of the season to all ...

:smug: ... Ya see a Dark Star trend here?

My Sad PJ5 set me back 3k. It would cost a little over 4k to replace.

My Tobias Classic 5 was eighteen hundred used. The list on that thing was something stupid like fortyseven hundred back in '97.

As far as a waste of money goes, they've been deducted, depreciated and everything else I could think of to the IRS and earned me far more than they cost.

They're both still with me.

What was/is your most expensive bass ever owned?
Do u still keep it? Did u sell it? Why? What was it market price when u bought it and now? Pictures are welcome!
P.S. if u can, write the prices, just curious about how much $ ppl waste on their favorite or dream instruments :)

Waste? My Ken Lawrence 5 string was very expensive and worth every penny. How many things can you spend a few grand on that will give you so many years of enjoyment?

My 2007 MIM Fender Deluxe Active Jazz V. It was supposed to be $629.00 before tax, but I cut a deal with Trent at Professional Music Center in Urbandale, IA and got him to give me the bass, and a Gator Bass Case ($85 value) for a flat $700 after tax. As far as I'm concerned, I got the bass at full price and the discount on the case. If you include the $80 mod to active/passive, then I paid $790, basically for the bass and case. That's the most I have spent on a bass, and it's the most I will spend on a bass until I get a Rickenbacker. And then, I'll probably go for the cheapest 4003 I can find. Still, I know it's gonna be at least $1200. And even that feels like I'm spending waaaay too much money. I know it's worth it, but it's about $500 more than I ever planned on spending on a bass.
