I was just jamming out to some Dragon Force and my new B.C. rich black widow and my crate 5 watt mega amp that it came with. It has such a wholesome tone and warm punk and awesome crunch. The black makes it look epic.

I play in a metal band tuned to Drop C. I am using a Peavey Grind 4 (I know it isn't pointy, but cheap)< Tech21 VT< Carvin BX1500< Carvin BRX410NEO. I have plenty of clean and gritty tones and I use mids in my mix. Do you think just changing my amp to one similar to your will get me that Jason Newsted sound he had on ...And Justice For All? Or should I sell my whole rig and start from scratch?

It's a common known fact that uh...if you polish B.C. Rich basses they sound even better. Something to do with how the rag brings out the wholesomeness and tone through the color of the wood as it's being played...oh and make sure you get some l.e.d. lights for it too (they must be black)

just sell it, obviously you're missing the many tonal opportunities that the crate 5-watt has - 410 cab? a HEAD? clearly you want to actually hear yourself, and that's just not appropriate.

This is a scientific fact I used to quote when I worked in a shop. In a spectrum of light the two polar opposites are white and black. White is the presence of all light while black is the absence of all light. In any environment where light exists, black will absorb it. Light is a combination of energy and heat. Therefore, by absorbing light, black is a naturally hotter sounding color.

On a serious note, would that energy even translate to sound output? Given that the lowest frequency in the visible light spectrum is 150 million times larger than that of the top end of the range of human hearing and because electro-magnetic waves to not easily interact with longitudinal waves (at least, to the extent of simple sound waves), I don't forsee any way in which black paint could actually have an effect on a bass
