My new (cheap from Taiwan!) Antoniosai 7-string

Great to hear it arrived!

What will you coat the neck with? Will you oil it? What kind of oil? Or what will you use?

BTW, you know you can buy them fretless too? ;-)

Best regards,
In Christ,

Fernando
for now some wax that i use on the thumb. i'm thinking a rub on tung poly, though maple, and this much of it, most likely needs more protection...yeah, if only i would have known re: the fretless version...

OMG! your YouTube stuff is amazing. I figured you were old like me until I check you're profile. You're a punk kid ;)

I'll be learning some licks from there. I'm inspired.
thanks for the link.

Haha. Thanks man. I would put up more vids but our home internet connection has been down for a while now. Something about them moving the dsl line and now it doesn't reach us anymore....we'll probably be changing providers soon.

I'm 19, soon to be 20. Just started college too. Jazz instrumental major @ Cornish college of the arts :)

I just got my 7 string bass in the mail today.

First impressions:
It's nice. It was well packaged for shipment with the bass, surrounded by styrofoam, packed into nice gig bag and the gig bag then packed into a sturdy box. The gig bag is something of a bonus as I didn't expect it.

The bass constructions looks good, I'll take a more detailed look tonight. The inlay work looks very good with no obvious defects. And the one I got is a little excessive on the inlay. But hey. Got it? Flaunt it! No idea how it sounds just yet as I'm busy as hell at the office. The body looks pretty good.

All in all it looks exactly like the picture. Which isn't a bad place to start from.

One thing for certain: That neck is w-i-d-e.

I just took the Antoniotsai 7-string to Mike Lull for some work. He said that the fretwork was pretty poorly done. Many of the frets weren't seated well and something about gaps...

So he's going to fill the gaps with some sealer and then reglue, crow, polish. All that good stuff. Says it should play great after that! About $210 and it's scheduled to be done in a week. I'll let you know how it plays when I pick it up next Saturday :)

Mike was pretty suprised when I told him how little I paid for that monster of an instrument :D

i have one of his 6 string basses, the fret work defintely left something to be desired. very rough on the high side of the bass, and just really small, make it hard to lower my action as much as i'd like it. and my pickups output is very low at least 1/4 less output than what my sx passive bass puts out. i was very suprised to see the battery and realize it was active bass considering the low output. i'm fairly disappointed, need new pickups, and to get it playable i'd need all new frets. dont' really want to sink that much into this bass, but i've got it maybe i will. but being married now makes spending a bunch of money on gear not quite as likely.

You likey? :D

I do want to do more Dragonforce stuff, I'm just too busy with college stuff at the moment. Figuring out those solos and how to play them fluently on a 5-string takes up some time :p

My singer hates them. My guitarist loves them. And I just love hearing the arguments between the two of them over DragonForce. Its hilarious.

But it actually is really cool, to do shred stuff like that where its insane to do on guitar, on Bass. If I had the patience I'd probably try one out myself.

(My guitarist got a link to that Vid, BTW:D ;) :bassist: )
