I got my 7-string back from Mike Lull today. He glued down all the loose frets, and leveled and crowned the frets. Plus a general setup. He said that the fretboard really ate up a lot of glue to get those frets down and the holes filled. Took a little more work than he expected so it came out to be $280. But now it plays perfect! Like butter :smug: Super low action. Perfect for tapping, or anything else. :bassist:

qulity: usa>jp = tw > kr > china
price: usa>jp>tw=kr>china

I dont believe in buying high-end price basses, the most important is that you feel comfertable while play.
Anyway, $500 for a good-qulity bass why not? why paying $2000 for brand and even less qulity?

are the frets on ur antoniotsai super low and small like mine are? cause i think for it to be any good i'm gonna need new bigger frets.

That might be a VERY general truth about production line basses. My 7-string was more than $500 though. At this point it was $450 + $130 (shipping) +$280 (+tax, for the fretwork). So that's $810 total, for a pretty awesome 7-string bass if you can deal with some neckdive. It was still pretty playable without the fretwork, but now it plays like any high-end bass would.

I still wouldn't consider this a replacement for high-end basses though. There's nothing better than having a completely custom bass made for you by a skiller luthier ;)


labgnat: I'm not picky about frets, but they do look a little lower than my other basses. Doesn't bother me any. But I play with a lighter touch than most people, and like my action/tension a lot lower than most people...:p
