Double Bass My new Shen SB-190

I'm lucky to live near Shen's main headquarters, and after renting an SB-150 from them for awhile, I took the plunge and bought their new model. Flat laminated maple back, solid willow sides, solid spruce top. It's bigger and louder than the SB-150, and sounds great. I have a set of Obligatos on it. I must say it sounds very close to a fully carved bass. Nice comfortable neck, too.

Yo! I just picked up the same bass a week ago! I heard mine at the NAMM show, and I just took delivery a week ago. Nice bass, huh? I traded my Shen Willow for it, and it was the right move in every way for me! I have #1...you must have #2! Congrats on your new bass. Mine sounds in every way like a fully carved bass, and I am thrilled with it! Can you post a few more pics??

I'm pretty impressed with the first one from the NAMM show as well. I first learned about this hybrid model last summer in a conversation wtih John Sprague of CSC. I was putting in a request for an all-solid willow flatback version of the Rogeri pattern, which would be an nice intermediate size between the 3/4 and large 7/8 Gemunder shapes. I'd sure like to see some all-solid flatbacks come out this year. I think that it would be the cat's meow.
