My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

A few tiny spots in the main room to touch-up, but I’m going to wait for it to fully dry before going back to it. I also have to wait for the vestibule ceiling to dry before I can tape the wall/ceiling corner and do the vestibule walls. A smarter person would have done the vestibule ceiling first, then the main room, then the vestibule walls. I am not a smarter person 
Everything online says to wait at least 12 hours before taping over freshly applied paint. Looks like the vestibule walls won’t get finished until tomorrow. That’s still a day ahead of schedule. With a little luck I might even have the HVAC components mounted on the north wall by the end of the weekend, which was something I wasn’t planning on getting to until next week. Huzzah!
I’m not the greatest painter on the planet but I prefer to cut in by hand.
I’ve never been great at doing it without tape. I still cut in, but I put the tape up as a safety net.

To be honest the time it takes to lay tape perfectly straight without waving seems more difficult then going super slow with a small brush.
Oh, I know exactly what cutting in is, it’s just that I also know my track record of doing it correctly save for one flub that ruins the whole thing basically every time I’ve tried it. The tape is just a failsafe for the inevitable flubbery.

Actually, this painting isn’t too bad. Primer, texture and more primer combined with high quality paint means it goes on super fast, even and the coverage is great. I can’t complain.
Vestibule is done. I’m going to let everything dry overnight. Tomorrow I’ll pull tape, deal with any little touch ups that need attention, and then the painting will be complete.

The vestibule paint has mostly dried, and now in the late afternoon and evening light it looks a little baby blue rather than gray. Going to check it again tomorrow in the afternoon and with my shop lights. Hopefully it doesn’t still look the same or I might have to put up a different color. Fingers crossed!

Upon further contemplation I’ve decided not to repaint the vestibule. The color didn’t dry exactly how I wanted it, but it’s close enough that once I fill the space with drum racks (and drums), cable hooks, my mic locker, bass and guitar cases, etc. it won’t be an issue.
In news unrelated to painting: I’ve decided not to hang the HVAC units today. Since I’m mounting into metal hat channel I can’t use the screws included with the units. I have sufficiently sized drywall screws, but they have very low shear and head strength in applications where they’re not embedded into drywall. I don’t want to have them fail and send my HVAC components crashig down and tearing things out of the wall. I’m going to step back and do some more research on an appropriate type of screw before purchasing anything and installing it.
A lighter color in the vestibule can work to your advantage. When you have a brighter space for storage, it is easier to locate stuff.
Are you planning any cubby holes or shelving for that area?
I use really useful boxes Invalid Link Removed for cable and equipment storage. Good products. Staples carries them.
Good idea. After all this work you don't want it to fail over a few screws!
The lighter color was always the plan. The issue is that it dried quite a bit closer to baby blue than the light gray from the sample.
Vestibule storage area will include a rack for drum shells with a bay underneath for drum hardware and mic stands. On the opposite side will be a cabinet to serve a small my mic locker with bass and guitar case storage above it. On the walls opposite the entry door will be cable hooks.
