My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

I started out down a path towards structural before realizing I didn't have an aptitude for it. Beyond the basics I get completely out of my depth. Most of my work these days is in environmental restoration (as well as conservation and mitigation), stormwater management, floodplain development regulations, etc. Lots of eco-friendly greenie stuff.

Funny, I was the exact opposite: I started out mostly studying hydrology and environmental, but found I had more aptitude for structural in my last year of school.

No work happening on the studio this week as previously planned. I've been absolutely slammed at work, have been prepping material for two bands and am getting ready for a backpacking trip over the coming long weekend (Labor Day here in the US). I'll be getting back to it next week. Sorry for the delays to all of you still tuning in to my slow progress.

When you first see a thread like this in progress (around the 40 page mark) it starts out like binge-watching the first five seasons of a show you just discovered using on-demand. Then when you get caught up it is like waiting a whole week for a new episode to be released.

Not that there are a whole lot of threads like this. Ok, there really aren't any other threads like this.

But keep up the great work. Not only is it instructive, but I can honestly say it has motivated me to take up a few projects around the house (music related or otherwise) that I had been previously too lazy to dig into.

LOL, I just read all 900 replies in this thread thinking at the beginning I was going to read a detailed start to finish studio build thread. Subscribed so I can read the end of this drama. I'm rooting for you silky smoove, the protagonist in this adventure.

Nice work! I'll be getting back to it this coming weekend. I've had a bunch of delays recently, and have a small window before a 9-day trip down the Oregon coast and four days with my in-laws after that. I have to tear down the existing joist hangers, frame in the upper "triangle" of the partition wall now that it'll be going full height, and then finish off the insulation. Once insulation is wrapped up I'll be able to get the city inspector out for my final inspection. Well... Final inspection until I have to pull an electrical permit.
