Just wondering, did you adopt:
One clip per strut horizontally on the walls?
What vertical inch spacing per hat channel?
Is there any advantage to using more closely spaced hat channels?

Manufacturer’s recommendation is to keep the clips within 3” of the floor and within 6” of the ceiling. 24” vertical spacing along the edges. Staggered “every other” pattern through the field.
That arrangement is evidently the sweet spot for decoupling. It requires more clips than their minimal spacing option, which is something I was okay with from a cost and effort perspective.
The bulk of the north wall clips and hat channel are installed. I’m going to have to add additional clips and channel to support the mini split and HRV, plus I think I’ll need another row above the double top plates to accommodate the upper triangle drywall.
I’ve just finished doing an inventory and placing orders for the items that I underestimated. I went with TM Soundproofing again. They had a bit of a hiccup on the first order, but they sorted it out and their prices seem to be the best that I can find. Happy to give them more business, and I’m optimistic that they’ll get everything right this time around.
I shorted the amount of hat channel due to not anticipating the additional row of channel required at butt seams. I also shorted the number of Whisper Clips... somehow... Still not sure how that one happened. Lastly the putty pads around electrical outlets do not go as far as I thought. That’s not a fault of the manufacturer, but my own. I forgot that my electrical boxes are doubled up in depth to account for the decoupled drywall and as such I need two pads per box to get it done.
Easy peasy. Another $600, but that should be it for sound isolation products to take me through to the end. Hopefully... Fingers crossed...

Just measured a couple of clearances. I’m going to need to cut and install additional drywall ledgers on the east and west walls where they meet the north and south walls to allow space between the clips at each corner. No worries. Four 2x6s from Home Depot, eight cuts with my chop saw, a few notches with my jig saw to avoid the electrical and I’ll be back in business. Easy peasy.
Are the two outlet boxes shown in the image the same size? The further box looks deeper than the one in the foreground. Will they both be flush with the drywall?
They’re identical. All of the outlet boxes as well as light boxes will end up being slightly recessed from the face of drywall, which is exactly what you want. It allows the faceplates, trim rings, etc. to sit nice and snug against the drywall.
Whisper Clips and hat channel finished on the north wall. Extra piece installed for the mini split. The HRV only requires one channel.

Completely agree. My only concern is everyone jumping on the band wagon and before you know it, the “what’s the best studio for metal...” threads start appearing.
Additional Whisper Clips and putty pads are on the truck for delivery today, and the additional hat channel is on a truck scheduled for tomorrow.
Out cats are indoor-only and have no survival instincts. They’re basically cute, furry simpletons. I have no intention of letting them loose in a construction zone
