With my Rickenberger project now behind me, I've decided to fill the void with another headless mash-up. This time it'll be based on the classic Stingray aesthetic.
I've already found a Hohner B2B headless and transcribed the important dimensions into Illustrator. I discovered that these are great basses for these quirky projects as the neck is a bolt-on and the bridge is Steinberger licensed and SOLID. The best part is they can be found for short money!
The Stingray body shape had to be reduced in size and the classic pickguard shape will be altered slightly to accomodate the 23 fret neck and beefy bridge, but I think the overall Stingray vibe will remain.
I'll print these out on my digital press today and apply the body label to a nice slab of swamp ash.
