My poor daughter!!! 😔

Last night my 14 year old daughter went inpatient for psych eval. Too many threats of suicide and running away. Y heart is half dead.
She's such a good person! A small lifetime of being bullied and some abuse from her late grandma.
I just want to go back to sleep and not get up, but I have to take her twin brother to school and go to work.
F mental illness.
I pray they find the right combination of meds to calm her mind and spirit.
Crying.
This is a rabbit hole no one should ever have to go through.

I feel for you. My son had a bad episode in his 20's and went in for 3 weeks. Finding medicine that works and staying on it has helped him tremendously. My wife and her family have suffered for generations and fought the idea of help thru medicine. Did not end well for her. I will be praying for you.

It's hard. Bullying is a 24/7 art form with all of the social media and peer pressure these days, something this tail-end boomer didn't have to deal with. I just had the old school bullies. Having familiar treason only compounds it.

Life is hard for youngsters, a time when just their hormones want to betray them. If I could give strength and calm to you both over the internet, I would. Until it's possible, I can only offer the best wishes and hopes. --Mac

This is heartbreaking. My daughter suffered tremendously from anxiety and panic attacks at that age. Antidepression meds almost caused her to take her life. As a parent, I can't think of a more helpless, desperate feeling. Hoping you and your family weather this storm and pass though to the other side quickly, and unscathed.

Very sad to hear about your daughter's struggles and the pain you must be feeling, Lance. The uptick in the number of young people dealing with depression must be linked to something...choices we've made as a society at large in terms of turning away or deprioritizing certain things while simultaneously placing great importance on other things that may not be as beneficial as they seem....or worse.

Knowing that one is cared for and loved is of great comfort, and it's obvious how much you love your daughter. Keep letting her know that, and know that you, too, are loved. I'll be praying for you both, too.

I feel for you - I've been through similar with children (not mine tho) and with other family members. I know that none of this is easy, and I don't have anything to add other than in so many cases that I have seen the right combination of meds was literally life changing. I can't imagine how you feel right now. I hope your family comes out of this quickly and you find a long term solution. This sucks, man, I really hope for the best, and in them meantime you have your bass family!

Glad she was comfortable enough to let you know of her struggles. I spent most of teens & 20s pretty deeply depressed. Suicidal ideation was an all-day/every day nonstop playlist in my head. I never said a word to my parents. The last thing I wanted was them to try to stop me if I did decide to do the deed.

Things finally got tremendously better after going to therapy in my mid 20s, just wished I had done it a decade sooner.

Sending you and yours all the best vibes. Music can be healing as you're going through it, but being here I trust you know that already.

Hey Lance, my daughter-in-law has gone through that. She's finally on top of it but it was quite a journey. My wife attends a meeting every Thursday with a group of parents who are dealing with mental illiness, depression and addictions. The meetings don't solve the problems but it helps my wife accept the fact that it's not her fault.
You're in my prayers buddy. PM me if you'd like to talk sometime.

We had this same experience with suicidal ideation. The doctor prescribing these meds don't follow-up and monitor these kids closely enough. The meds can make things worse in a teenager. Cymbalta was the culprit.

The (sort of) good news is, we've never allowed the twins to have smartphones or social media.
They have smartwatches for communication. They are allowed very limited chat within parameters.
Even based on heavy parental supervision, some other child in Catholic school chat told her to go kill herself the other day. There are no guarantees in this sick crazy world. I just visited my daughter and I have a short her that we're going to see her through this situation. Thanks for all your kind words of support!
