You guys are an inspiration!
I just got diagnosed with Diverticulitis. Its been a painful 6 weeks, and the more i read up on it the more im convinced western medicine is pretty clueless. "liquid diet replaced by low fiber diet replaced by high fiber diet eventually to avoid relapse" ***? LOL!

Tabdog thats a horriffic story- at least God gave you your wish, you got the kids raised.

Wallace...my wife threatens me with divorce at least 3 times a year. Kids are 3 years old! The tightrope walk is astounding.
With all this going on i have made two definitive promises to myself:
1) always be there for my kids as long as im drawing breath...
2)play bass until they pry it from my cold dead fingers!

I don't often post in threads like this, not for lack of caring but for lack of words. Everything I can think of just seems trite in the face of the enormity of what you're experiencing.


It means a lot that you've chosen to let us know and say a goodbye rather than simply let your nic go silent and leave no one knowing where you went.

Best wishes and prayers to you, thunderchicken, and to tabdog. I hope that somehow, a recovery might be in the cards. If not, I pray that you will find courage, joy, and blessings in this world and your passage into the next. We will all follow you sooner or later.

Living one day at a time is my motto. When my wife suddenly passed away a few months ago leaving me to raise my two small daughters alone I was completely terrified. Somehow you get up every day and figure out how to get to the end of the day. I don't think much further than that anymore. I will be keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers. I know some wonderful folks who have done as much for me and it has made a world of difference.

Take care of #1 and #2.

I don't want to get religious,
but something more intelligent
than us will take care of the rest.

It's hard to let go of control of the
rest, but it was never under our control
to begin with.

I thought my problems started with Diverticulosis
and Diverticulitis. Beware.

You are right. The doctors know surprisingly
little about gut problems. I had a bleeding ulcer
just killing me for a couple of years and bled
to death before they figured it out!

I have never felt so much a part of TB as I
do now.

The past dozen or so years have been
rough on me physically.

Still I thank my lucky stars.

I was walking along a creek. There was a
homeless young guy that could play guitar
and sing and write songs really well. He was
a real talented guy. He had everything going
for him except he is addicted to crack and
alcohol. Dirty, hungry, jonesing and miserable.

I left there feeling lucky I wasn't like him,
