mesa subway +pedal is 2 with a hpf, bright, deep etc. I think the qstrip is 2 with fixed hpf etc.
I have a Sine effect parametric and it's fantastic. He will do a version with and hpf and lpf as a custom right now, I think he is going to make it a standard offering soon

I heard a decent zydeco band at Mulate's and several good brass bands here and there around French Quarter and French Market. Cafe du Monde had a really good one out on the sidewalk, but they were playing with rhythm tracks... :rollno: My favorite was a very smooth jazz band at Court of Two Sisters' jazz brunch (which gets my best food award). I only had four nights, which was just not long enough. I plan on a return trip next year of at least a full week.

Juan's Flying Burrito is one of our favorite restaurants there. Saw quite a few great all original Indie bands at Circle Bar in the past, and we'd always stay at Hotel Modern in Lee's Circle. Need to get back there soon...

nice! Yeah, I live two blocks outside the Quarter - close enough to easily walk to gigs - when I have one of course! When you go back HMU and I'll give you some recomendations!

I will HYU. Tell us about your gigging experience there. I'm sure in the huge annals of Talkbass people have talked about their gigging in New Orleans, but here's your chance. It'd be great to hear about, Jefe!

Well, I haven't been gigging much since the start of the lock downs, but before that ... New Orleans is the world's biggest party ad everyone is invited. Lots of "adult" content of course.

The best part is the quality of the players. Amazing, amazing musicians and great people. Tourists can be a pain in the ass though.

Mardi Gras gigs are always fun. Lots of bachelor and bachelorette parties as well. Private gigs (lots of companies do conferences and conventions down here ) ... Bourbon Street is a blast at first. When it's fun, there is no better gig IMO, but when it sucks, it sucks hard. Tourists can really be a$$es, and it only takes one to ruin a night.

Other nights, though, are great. There are a lot of adult entertainment options there, and often the dancers from next door sill stop by and have fun. Then there are the swinger conventions, the beads for b00bs, etc. A lot of the swingers tend to be exhibitionists .. and fun!

Frenchmen Street is where a lot of the good music is. Lots of jazz and funk, some of the guys from Living Color played a pop up gig upstairs in one of the bars that I was playing at. That was a fun time.

Festivals - hot as hell in the summer, but always loads of fun, as are private parties. Corp gigs pay well but are typically somewhat boring .. but not always.

The best part tho, again, is playing with the most amazing musicans that I have ever played with. I mean, word class and then some.

As for me, right now my job sucks up a ton of my time, but I hope to be gigging again after the New Years.

Bro,things suck so bad in my neck of the woods I would be happy for a gig at the local retirement home.

I was all set to buy A Caveman audio BP-1 compact preamp then they raised the price.
So I did another round of research and I settled on these.
So, I need some help from you guys what is personal experiences with these 2 Pre-amps.
Reasoning behind picking these 2 pedals, I want a great clean tone (I'll get dirt from my other pedals) and had to have a DI a head phone jack would be a plus. I was also leaning towards the Trickfish Minnow but the youtube videos just didn't sound that great.

1. DSM Humboldt Bass Station Preamp
2. Laney Digbeth
Pro and cons of these or another suggestion.
If I absolutely did not want a DI in the pedal The Rheingold BP-2 preamp seems to be a great pedal basically BP-1 compact without the DI.

I have a Caveman Audio BP1 which I really like but am intrigued by the pedalboard friendly BP1 compact. I decided to either wait until I come across one in the states or my next pre/DI will be a Khan or Oracle.
Tbh, I still use my SLOIII the most when playing live. I just want to compare these myself instead of watching and listening to all the demos. :)

when I 1st heard about the BP-1 compact it was $399.00 then 499.00 then 599.00 now 575.00 just to step for me. I might as well just get save and the BP-1 at the point because the current price on the site without the IR is $754.25.

When I use the bp1, I leave it with the rubber feet on the floor and I keep my nano plus pedalboard behind it and run it through the effects loop of the bp1. It is great just a lot more set up time and I don't want a huge pedalboard. That is the only reason I don't use it regularly and keep my small board with the SLOIII.

The regular BP1 is a very nice pre/DI tho and I will not get rid of it. By the demos I have heard, it sounds better than the compact. Would love to compare them myself sometime.

I haven't used the Laney, but the DSM is great. It's reminiscent of an SVT, and it's pretty flexible. I really liked it because it was an All in one preamp - didn't need to add anything else to get a great sound to foh and IEM.

The DSM Humboldt ticks a lot of boxes for me personally features wise, but it seems like an ergonomic nightmare on a pedalboard. All those knobs and switches!

The Digbeth looks and seems to sound super nice, but it feels like the real value it brings is in its overdrive which might be wasted for your needs.

Thank you everyone I decided to try these 2 out 1 with a DI and 1 without. Both are based on an SVT so it will be interesting to how each went about duplication that sound & vibe.
1. https://www.broughtonaudio.com/product-page/sv-pre I love my Josh Wah so much the build quality was excellent. So why not see if its another home run.
2. BASS STATION - DSM & HUMBOLDT Sound great on a lot of videos and seem to have decent praise on TB.

How did it go? I liked the Broughton SVP a lot - it had a nice tone (earth shaking!!!!!) and can't beat the quality.

It's been awhile. I actually gigged this year lol. I've mentioned my hand injury before - I've got permanent nerve damage now in my right hand, so I have to figure out how to play with it. Luckily it's mostly on my pinky and that side of my hand, so playing fingers aren't overly affected, but the good news is that I can at least play :-)

I really haven't done much on the preamp side - I picked up a Helix Stomp XL but haven't had a chance to play through it yet. Better form factor than the POD GO (much smaller/portable).

I also picked up a Demeter HPB-1 with a built in Minnie (800 watt amp). Fender tone stack plus semi parametric EQ is definitely tonal heaven!!

I've been getting rid of a few things, I think the only preamp that I am going to be getting rid of is the BassRig 64 (redundant since I have the Stomp) but overall I've been very happy with my tone, the set up, and flexibility.

Come on 2023 - bring on the gigs!

Okay, kind of ignore my previous post. I've been wondering about the BP1 - how is it? Is there anything that you would say that is sounds like?
