My preamp journey

I like it. Lots of good tones to dial in. The tube emulation dirt is better than I thought it would be. I like it but I’m going to move it because I ended being able to get a new Sushi Dreamcatcher and that thing is awesome. It will stay as the big #1 for now and I will have the American for when I want to pull out a pick and just get really grindy and nasty. Hopefully the RAH will be good and able to stay. I wouldn’t mind keeping the Digbeth, just need to justify some funds. On the Digbeth, you can mix the tube and fet channels and get some great stuff. The only downside I could find is the mids are a little harder to dial in like I like them. But, there are plenty of mid options on the pre.
I looked real hard at the Digbeth I went with the Genzler Magellan Pre, Sushi Box gets so much love on TB I'm tempted to move my Broughton SV-pre to get a sushi for my other board that'll I'll be starting up soon.

Anyone out there try this pedal Elementary – Sushi Box FX ?
I like a good clean preamp letting my bass, pedals to their jobs with preamp being a sweetener per se.

I have not. I’m trying the RAH first for the Hiwatt sound and from what I’ve heard it is similar in that it is the cleaner of the Hiwatt sounds but can get somewhat dirty. But Sushi has that tube though. I was tempted but I’m almost afraid to have too many tubes running on the board.

I will say, you can run the Sushi UA pretty clean and it sounds great. Just depends if you lean Fender or Hiwatt tone.

I tried it and liked it - it was one of the preamps that I had a really hard time getting rid of. It had fantastic drive - sounded really, really good with a touch of hair up to full blown dirt.

Like @Parzival though, I prefer the UA. If I was looking for a preamp that could get dirtier the Elementary would be it, but I was looking more for thick tone. Don't get me wrong, the UA can get nice and dirty and sounds great, but the Elementary sounded better dirty IMO.

I had heard good things about the SolidgoldFX Beta V, and I found one for a good price soooo .... Incoming!!!

Anyone on this thread ever use one? Thoughts, tips, tricks?

I also ended up buying a Broughton Scorpion, a Mozztronics Fuzz, and a Source Audio Ultrawave.

I like the Nobels OD and my Lucydreamer, but I'm finding more and more use for dirt nowadays. I'm not going to keep them all, so we'll see what makes the cut.

Still have my eye on the Origin DCX, but might wait until those start showing up on the used market.

I Hey bro, I own the Solid Gold fx Beta DLX.It's the rarer white box that has four knobs plus a combination of five two and three way switches. Also two foot switches. If one can't find a desired dirt setting on this it doesn't exist.I found mine on Reverb a couple of years ago.Totally rad!

Sweet man. I have heard very good things, and I think the V is pretty close to the DLX, but without two footswitches. I'm excited to try it!

Good luck,I think you'll like.I haven't heard a bad thing about anything they put out.
yeah man, me either. This was on my passive list for awhile (I keep a list of things that I'll pick up if i find them for a good price). I've heard nothing but good things, and they are recommended quite a bit by other players.
