My preamp journey

Totally man! I don't really dig on the SVT tone as a general rule, but if I did I would totally do this!
I'm not sure if I dig the SVT TONE or not but the SV-PRE with the master dimed & the low switch set just right there's a thickness that's just a rip roaring Funky good time. Thus my Assumptions are adding the UA will give me both SVT & FENDER tone stacks with combinations there of Funk Happiness.

You'd be correct my friend! I tried that with the SVT Bassrig and the UA and it worked great!

I always thought (and this is very simplistic on my end) is that bassists tend to fall into three camps:
Those that prefer jazz basses, those that prefer P basses, and those that prefer "others."

Maybe it's the same for amps - those that prefer the Fender style tone, those that prefer SVT style, and other.

Don't get me wrong - I love variety (naturally, I mean this whole thread ...) - but when it comes down to it I just love a good fender TMB with a para way more than an SVT.

So far the Demeter VTBP 201 & the Alembic F-1X remain my favorites. The Arkham is a very cool unit. I sold the Oracle, but kept the Zephyr. Same thing. The caveman BP compact is also really cool and very interesting preamp but kind of in a Neve console way.

Honestly, I’m still really very impressed by the Mesa Subway D800+ preamp in the head itself. It’s not something you plug into an instantly go “Wow” but it can get you where you want to go pretty easily.

My two favorite rack preamps are the Demeter HPB-1 and the Eden Navigator. I have both in the "amp" format., i.e. each are the preamp plus a class D amp inside.

I still haven't tried the Caveman, but I have several console type preamps already, so might be redundant. But still ....

I had a Jive preamp on order, but got tired of waiting, so I cancelled the order and picked up a Double Jive (on it's way) off of the classifieds here. I have a tape preamp emulator in my Becos Stella, and I love what it does, so anxious to check out the Double Jive, especially after messing with the Hudson Broadcast.

Honeymoon period is over on the Broadcast and I'm still digging it!

It IS a terribly useful tool.
I only had one on loan for a little while but would not mind owning one.
I'm always looking for a good grab and go preamp. Variable hpf/lpf and sweepable mids are two key parts, the Neve console aspect is a huge bonus.

I've got a tube boost on the way (and the Hudson has a boost, as does the ALiX, etc.), so I won't need the SBM at all if the S1 works out.
