My preamp journey

I've been wanting one of these after reading about the pultec trick and watching the review on Wetter Bass YT channel.
You'll have to let me know the verdict.
I was already wondering if you knew about the pedal.
I will do a fill review. I've heard it's very preamp like so ...

It's not gonna ship until Saturday and has to come from across the pond so may be a bit before I see it.

No gigs this weekend (trying to finish up some writing) but this arrived today! Thought I'd take a break from the laptop and play with this awhile.

Nice!
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it!
The Spaceman Equinox seems to have a bit more control over the Pulltec-Trick, with separate controls for boost and cut - on the Low Rider the ratio is fixed, it seems.
I didn't get much of a chance to mess with it so far, but I'm digging it. I think it almost falls into the "magic tone box/preamp" category. Easily stands on its own as a preamp, but also sweetens up others. It just sounds GOOD. Tones of bass and clarity.

So after a few more days with the Lowrider, I still think it's very cool (honeymoon period over lol). It's one of those boxes that either gives you a great foundation for the tone (a nice preamp) - like a Submarine, for instance - and you can build on that foundation - OR - another way to look at it is that it will take an already good tone and make it even better. The more I mess with it, the more flexible it is! I even got a great SVT-type sound of it.

I'm not 100% sure that it will make it's way onto my board, but it's a great little box and definitely more than a one (Pulltec) trick pony :-)

Hudson Broadcast Dual and JPTR Jive both inbound.

I had a Hudson clone awhile back and it was okay, but didn't care for it. I think it may have been the clone that I wasn't happy with, I've talked to a few folks that love these for bass.

I got GAS for the Jive from another thread ..

Understandable, it's a great pedal.
Have you ever played a Blueberry?
I've had multiple flavors of Blueberry - I think my favorite was the One Control, followed by Bearfoot (Queen Bee I think), then the Broughton. All good, but I ended up like you - on a dirt bender, so I bought an SA Ultrawave because I ended up liking too many of them

Would love to here your take on both of these but was scare off by the shipping horror stories from JTPR.

I have a Becos Compressor that has a "tape saturation" function and I love it, so I am hoping the Jive will be more of the same.

I've talked to so many bassist that love the Hudson, so I figured it's worth a shot.

The Lowrider is on the block. I liked it, but not the direction that I was looking. If someone likes SVT - type sounds - clear highs and thunderous lows with great definition - it's a slam dunk..sounds really good with slapping, but I prefer the Fender tone stack as my baseline.

The Hudson came today and I can say 100% that the clone was very different. This thing kills. Sounds like a 60's studio console for sure, complete with killer clipping. Very sweet.

While my perfect preamp pedal doesn't exist (yet), a lot can be accomplished with some duo loc and a y-splitter for the power cable.

Fender tone stack with parametric EQ, lpf & hpf. Plus tubes ftw!

Giving me ideas yet once again
I'm running a SV-Pre into a Messenger Jr. So adding that UA would give me awesome tonality possibilities. Damn it MORE GAS!

I just bought a Para Driver v2 for $100. Took it to rehearsal, ran into the aux in on my Mesa D-350, and nailed the setting I use on the amp. At home, it replaced my BDDIv2 in about 10 minutes and is much easier to dial in than the tone stack on my Rumble 40.

Tech 21 isn't trendy anymore, but it's so great to get something that just does what I want.
