My story of giving Paul McCartney my Rickenbacker Bass at Junior's Farm

Anyone have a photo of Paul playing a righty? I've never seen one.
My favorite one.

I think you’re thinking of Wing’s other guitarist, Jimmy Mc Cullough who did succumb to the horse at age 26 in 1979. He was in the band 1974-1977.

That was Jimmy McCullough the guitarist.
My bad, was to lazy to Google. He was a major talent, such a tragic sad waste. RIP
Been lobbying my band to do Junior's Farm for years now, one day I will win this fight.

Great story and I'm happy for you that you got your bass back!

I wonder if some day I will come across something similar where someone is looking for his old '56 Fender and it turns out it's the one I bought 3 years ago... ;) Would I give it back? I don't know. Maybe not. I love that thing. Would be cool to know more about the history of the instrument, though. Is there even a thread for this here on TB?

Great story. Love all the details. Thanks for posting. I sometimes wish I could track down my old black-and-white Telecaster bass -- I bought it new in '74, so it was probably a '74, too. As a college freshman, I used that bass in the jazz band and also in a one-off gig with Bo Diddley. Wish I had some pics.

Finally had a minute to watch the video . That is an amazing and expertly documented saga. Bass appears to be in great condition as well. I hope the flipper didn’t take too much advantage of the situation pricewise, but I would have done what I could to reaquire as you did. Very cool .

No. That's simply not true. And as noted, all the righty instruments Paul owns are strung left-handed (like his Epi Casino). Can he play to some degree on a righty instrument? Sure, many left-handers can.

To add: Macca, with only one or two exceptions of his earliest instruments, keeps all of his instruments, including his 1966 lefty Jazz Bass (apparently, he didn't take his to Lagos during the Band on the Run sessions because he didn't want to have his stolen. Need to confirm that anecdote, though)

The '66 (or '67) Jazz he was photographed using during the white album sessions is not the one he was seen using as a backup during the '76 Wings Over America tour or elsewhere. The white album bass (to my knowledge) was never seen again afterwards, leaving me to speculate he obtained the second Jazz some years later.
