So: Good news, I need to open the pocket @ 1mm and make the heel a bit more rounded. This way I can make a perfect fit!!

Asymmetrical (sorry for the late reply) its the only profile available with the Fender Deluxe 5 neck shaft.
It feels great. (haven't assembled yet to play test)

BTW, there is a Guild X702 routinely for sale in the Boston Craigslist. The person listing it, goes through jaunts where they post it every day for a month or two and then get bored. The price has ranged from $1,100 to $1,700 or somewhere around there. If I see it again, I will let you know. Excited to see how this build comes out.

Meh. Odds are they have pictures and a scam and not much else, given CL scammers typical behavior. I've gotten reasonable deals on things on CL, but I'm under no illusions, and when my scam-dar goes off, I listen.

This has been delayed, due to other pressing matters (basses that need completion) and my shop build and poor weather.
I will get back to this one once i finish the Okoume Gold glitter P, and the SS telecaster. (shop will be done next week)

Parmasean shaker shake on.
Shellac seal, silver base coat, shellac wet coat, shake on the .015 flake.
More shellac, then the monster flake, covered by a couple binding/ bury coats of Shellac, then buried in copious amounts of Solarez. Should be very 3D when done with the double layer and the myriad of flake size and shapes. The bag of monster has: Hex, square, round, stars and hearts shaped flakes

I'm going to use a discarded luggage stand, with large garbage bag as a catch for the loose flake, while on my rotisserie rig.

I had to outdo the bling factor of the tangerine Billy Bo! Sorry @S-Bigbottom no glitter knobs on this one. All hardware is black. Knobs are black Sadowsky style aluminum.

Looks great, that top will combine with the colour of the neck really nicely, I reckon!

Hand shaped belly cut, aligned neck, set neck 1.5” deeper into body towards the bridge, shortened and shaped back of neck join, drilled for ferrule screws.
Top trimmed flush.

Treated the poplar with aqua fortis (iron nitrate) Coloring is a nice result, made diffentiation between the Poplar pieces far less noticeable.
Rich dark reddish tone that highlights the grain naturally, and when wetted: brings out a chatoyance that was invisible before.
Will be a complimentary color/tone with the roasted maple neck, and the redwood top.

Penetrating epoxy arrived.
Will soak a thin mix into the top diluted with denatured alcohol, to harden the SOFT redwood top. Depending on how it looks, the Epoxy may be the final finish.
The neck will remain raw/ polished roasted maple.

Too hot to finish pickup routes today!

Moving them forward towards the neck each about 1/2” each putting the “bridge” pickup in the MM sweet spot.

Have Nordy Big Blades, but will be installing 916pickups.com prototype MFD’s first (same EMG 40 shape).
Expect to be very pleased with @Matt Kustom efforts in this regard.

**still contemplating wiring. Likely series VVT. Both sets of pickups are coil tappable, which makes me think of a Freeway 6 position toggle. Hmmmm

Will install Loxx strap locks.
