What do you think? It's a Phil Jones Micro 7. Hidden completely under the bed. I turn the power off and on via Siri and a HomeKit-compatible outlet. Amp volume is kept near-max and I control volume strictly through the bass. So I never have to touch the amp itself. I just plug in my bass, say "Siri, turn on Amplifier," and away I go. The Micro 7 was one of the only amps I could find that were small enough to fit (10" total height). The Double Four would have been a nice fit too, but double the $$$. The 7" driver provides a surprising amount of thump, and plenty for the scenario. The 3" tweeter helps provide a fuller range for audio coming from my iPad when I want something to play along to. The wife wouldn't allow a bass amp in the bedroom. Creativity always finds a way. Thanks Phil Jones! Married life can be a dangerous game. Stay safe out there my brothers!
A nice quilt over a cab can also make a space look great. If you have a big quilt then a big cab will be needed to display it properly.
I’m not married so I can get away with putting a mattress on top of my cabs if need be lol. I love the minimalist and compact look, feel and approach better tho as I live in a smallish apartment
That nightstand is actually pretty nice, I like the way the straight edged white boards frame the natural drawer faces.
At first glance I thought your nightstand was your amp, with a down-facing woofer on the bottom, a rear-facing tweeter on the back, and the electronics in the top drawer. That would certainly be approved by my wife! M. M.
Cool solution! But I’d find a way to hang that instrument cable someplace, maybe behind the nightstand but within easy reach. Leaving it on the floor like that looks like a a LEGO-piece-in-the-dark waiting to happen when you get out of bed!
Normally I don't have the cable in sight - I did that just for the photo. But you're right, I need a better solution than just cramming it behind the amp under the bed. Kind of a hassle. I thought about drilling a hole in the back of the nightstand and leaving the cable coiled up in one of the drawers, but don't know if that's the route I want to go. Some sort of hanging solution would be great if I could hide it.
Not loud enough to play along with music without amplification. But yes, the acoustic bass was originally the solution to having a practice bass I can easily grab and play on the bed, sofa, patio without amplification. Now I've added an amp option for playing along with recorded music.
Or, you know, you can tell your wife to get the hell out of the room! (Ahahahahah, we are both laughing at this right now and so are other buried, err, married men-folk ... ...but it's a nervous laugh *gulp* )
My wife has a black belt in karate and a purple belt in jiu-jitsu. She goes where she wants. I don't complain. Ever.
