I've searched everywhere to a solution to my problem to no avail. Hoping someone will see something obvious that my tech might be missing (given that I admittedly have no clue).
It's a Fender PJ with 3-way switch, master volume, master TBX tone. In the dual pickup and bridge position, there's the expected single coil hum, but also a ground hum that goes away when I touch the strings or bridge.
I did the obvious checks. The ground from the tone pot to the bridge is secure. One theory a tech had was that something was rubbing against shielding paint inside the cavity (??) but that wasn't an issue. I reviewed some wiring diagrams and it doesn't appear the switch requires a ground wire. Issue is the same at home, rehearsal space or on-stage.
Here's the thing ... I have three PJs. The two with 3-way switches have the same problem. The one that is V/V/T has no ground hum. This has me focused in on the switch, but no idea what I should or shouldn't be seeing
At first I figured it was no big deal since usually I'm touching the strings. However, I realized that at high volumes, that millisecond in between notes is enough to hear the buzz when playing.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated!
