I am slightly verklempt in his lack of precision. However he probably handmilled this string locking chunk nut of brass.. When I can get it strung up, I will see if I have to reposition said Nut. As it was pretty clear that he had this thing offset to maintain string alignment. much to my o c d's dismay... the phillips is just for positioning. As i've had to kind of modify and hand make these screws. And I kind of wanna go with slotted because it fits the aesthetic. As of now it is centered. I guess I just didn't realize how off it was to achieve string alignment. Remaking this NUT it's not really what I would like to do, If I can avoid it.
And as you can see from the picture, hopefully, i do not mind regrooving the wood. But only stringing it up will show me how it needs to be. But hopefully I can get away with it it's working out with a very light set of strings. Which in hindsight, is kind of what I found it with.. I wish I'd kept em for reference but we move forward!
