Mystery one pickup Gibson Thunderbird question

Had this for a while. Think it is a 2000 but serial and pots are hard to read. To my knowledge, this was a custom order of 20 Thunderbirds for Sam Ash. 18 white and 2 in black. Anybody heard of this?

I hadn't heard of a run done that recently for Sam Ash, it does look completely legit, the pickup raises some questions because it's a 3 screw cover which would date it to '76-'79 production. Gibson did do a small group in '86 as well, this example is from that group.
Regardless, is a great looking rare Thunderbird, congrtaulations!

Thanx! Does yours have the same Custom Shop Edition thing on the headstock? If, yes, it should be the same run?

I wish the one in the pic was mine! It does have the custom shop stamp, it belongs to friend that has a large collection of Gibson basses.

Great news, thanx again! Do you or your buddy know how many was made in this run? Any truth to the numbers I mentioned?

The run that was done in '86 was small, like 10 pieces, to my knowledge.

Wow! How many in white, how many in black finishes?

I think Adam Clayton plays one like that in Rattle and Hum. His might be older though as I remember it having the non-3 point bridge.

This one of yours is the first black post '65 II that I've ever even seen - it's a rare Bird!
