I have been wanting a MIA fender jazz and was toying with the idea of a fretless. But thats just a pipedream. anyhow, I was determined to use some of my tax return for a practice amp. I've got the nice GK with a 410 cab that I leave at church, and is impractical to haul back and forth in my little car. So I set a budget of about $150 for something maybe a 110 or 112, nothing special, just enough to hear myself. So I wander into my local GC (which I find a bit lacking without a pincushion babe at the counter). I see the new amps, and am not impressed with anything in my price range. Look over, and there is a used Acoustic 115 for $130. The new model lists for $299. So I need a bass to try it out. 2 feet away is a used jazz bass. now I wanted burst with tort, this was blue with pearl, but I'm not here to get a bass, and this one has frets...
Pick it up, plug it in, touch the strings, "oh cool flats.....WHOA no frets, just lines!" So it is a lined fretless. Play it for about 10 minutes and fall in love. Its a MIM for $299 with only a few minor blemishes, and 2 missing Knobs. I took the bait. Talked in a hard case and a strap for $30 more. They said no negotiations on used gear thats just got in. Still has the 30 day hold on the amp and the bass. So I wait.
