My new Ampeg V4B and SVT 212 AV. My first Ampeg and only second tube amp since 1975. Swore I'd never sell my Shuttle 6.2 combo, then I played one of these at GC and the GAS overtook my senses. This is the sound I've been hearing in my head. Bass is a Fender Select P with GHS Precision Flats. I think I shut off the lights and play by the warm tube light.
Nice bass, nice amp, nice cab. The perfect rig. I have a ‘57 P, maple neck. These basses with flats have a good tonal balance.
Hi Jonathan C very fine rig and bass! Now the only thing you need is a Jazzbass with rounds and maybe a fretless and maybe a fivestring and.... Happy NAD!!!!! may the GAS be with you Wise(b)ass
I have a Fender Olympic White Elite with Rounds and MIM Jazz fretless with Copper White Nylons. Not tried those two yet!
I have a question, will the V4B 100 watt reissue with a 810AV cut through enough to be heard over a guitarist using a EVH tube head through a Marshall 410 half stack and a heavy handed drummer!?!
Question: Two of those gorgeous 4 ohms cabs would be a total of two ohms. Does the head do 2 ohms? Marc
I think that is somehing that you’d have to try. If both are screaming loud, you might want to consider an SVT with an 810.
As BOT says. .. I agree. Depends on how your guitarist turns UP that EVH. I'd think the V4B might make it, but you'd probly be getting a dirty (overdriven) sound. ..great if that's what you want. ..otherwise. ..an SVT or other 300w all tube amp would be more suited
You should post your question in the main category. Not everyone will see your post here. Yes it does do 2 ohms
