NAD: Bugera Veyron T BV1001T (tube version)

I just recieved the Veyron T, here are my initial thoughts.

Pro's:
  • knobs feel solid
  • a single knob compressor that's actually usefull (of course it can't replace a rack unit)
  • construction looks and feels solid
  • unbeatable price performance ratio (bought it for €300)
  • perfect upgrade for my BVP5500
  • the sound; nice tube warmth perfect for slap 'n pop (doesn't get harsh or brittle but still open and clear), firm bottom end
  • Last but not least, it fits perfectly on my cab, the depth is exactly the same, it looks like the amp was made for it.
Con's:
  • none thus far

I haven't been able to push the amp so I can't comment on it's power. What I can say is that you don't need to crank the volume to get a clear tone (in contrast to my TC Electronic BH250 which sounds muffled on lower volume). I'll report back when I'm able to push the amp a bit :bassist:

That's correct, it's a 6.5" fullrange driver that's doing everything from approx. 1 kHz and up.
It's a much cheaper solution then the coaxial unit I used in my other 210 cabinet, it doesn't provide the extreme punch and clarity of the coaxial driver but it has a very nice top-end which most bassist wil probably like better.
This cab also has a much simpler X-over.

Just a small update on the sound. Yesterday I played with a gitarist in his living room so we really had to lower the volume, we even used a mobile phone with it's internal speaker for some drum beats. Even on this low volume the clear and open sound was there, I really love this amp, it's a perfect match for my cab.
I'm thinking about buying another one so I can run my Cyclops cab with it in case I need to play big venue's and need to have a flexible setup.

Yep, I am surprised with the price/performance ratio of Oberton loudspeakers, they are quite a bit cheaper than Eminence or italian premium models. The extra weight is no problem for me.
Do you recommend building the cyclops out of 12mm plywood?

I had that amp for about two weeks. I returned it for the mosfet version instead. Rocked it for about 2 years. It was a good amp.

I haven't tried or heard the mosfet version, it'll probably also depend on the cabinet choice and type of bass guitar, etc. I'm a 'tube pre-amp' guy, I have a BBE Bmax-T and a TL Audio 5021 rack tube compressor in my home studio, the latter sounds sooooo good with bass that most of the time I just plug straight into that compressor and use it as a pre-amp.

I've used 12mm and that's works just fine, it also keep the weight down. The cabinet isn't heavy, it's lighter then the 210.
