NAD: Bugera Veyron T BV1001T (tube version)

Mahogany is fairly soft and light weight, birch is quite hard and heavy.

Then it probably wasn't mahogany, but most of the ' hardwood' plywood here in the Netherlands has a reddish color that looks like mahogany but isn't.
I thought that the lighter color plywood that I used was either birch or poplar, in the past I used birch because it was lighter then the reddish plywood but still a fair amount harder / tougher then poplar (which is very light).
 
That's correct, it's a 6.5" fullrange driver that's doing everything from approx. 1 kHz and up.
It's a much cheaper solution then the coaxial unit I used in my other 210 cabinet, it doesn't provide the extreme punch and clarity of the coaxial driver but it has a very nice top-end which most bassist wil probably like better.
This cab also has a much simpler X-over.

Nice! Which driver is that? I'm using the Dayton PS65LP. Works real nice.

The Veyron is a pretty stout amp. Pushed an 8ohm Kappalite 3015LF pretty hard.

The mid/high driver is a Gradient Axis AX-06.
It could handle the power of the Bugera BVP5500, I have not yet tried loud volumes with the Veyron yet so fingers crossed :laugh:

Yup. I'm usually a mandatory tweeter user but this driver has some of the best off-axis response I've seen in a fullrange driver. Extends into the teens in a relatively controlled manner after a bit of eq. Doesn't get a lot of love on diy forums...I like it better than the Faital 3FE22 for mid-tweet use; more dynamic, cleaner.

I too will be using it in a compact 2x10 design. I swear I'm not copying you :D.

Lol, I do love a good fullrange or extended mid driver as a mid/high solution for bass guitar, it sounds way more coherent then most two-way cabs with tweeters. The mids project much better and most people forget that a bass guitar's character lies in the midrange.
I don't mind if you (sorta) copy my cab, it's just another arrangement of proven ideas :) (btw. post some pics if you build that 210 cab)

I have both the tube and the mosfet, prefer the mosfet as well.

I haven't tried or heard the mosfet version, it'll probably also depend on the cabinet choice and type of bass guitar, etc. I'm a 'tube pre-amp' guy, I have a BBE Bmax-T and a TL Audio 5021 rack tube compressor in my home studio, the latter sounds sooooo good with bass that most of the time I just plug straight into that compressor and use it as a pre-amp.
Yeah, I was too. But, mine started giving me problems. I was like, "2 weeks?! Screw this! I'm getting the SS." I actually liked the sound much better too.

Does anybody actually know the power output (W) of this amp? I know that it's not electrically possible for it to be 2,000W under any circumstance using USA electricity in a building that meets safety code. That's because 4 OHM, 2,000W output would require almost 17A which is more than legally allowed on a common US plug load, even in a commercial setting. I know you could assume 277VAC but that's not a plug load Voltage plug load and that would only make 2,000W at 38 Ohms so the whole thing is BS. 4 Ohm at 120V gives 3,6000 and 30A according to Ohm's Law which is pretty well established no matter what my local store sales guy says. So given any one of the 12 iterations of basic power formula the math can't be made to work out.
I played one and like the way it sounds but don't want to break stuff downstream. The music store clerk was sticking to his guns. Any idea how many actual Watts at 4 or 8 Ohm?

People have contacted them and they clarified it's 2000 Watts peak.
So around 1000 watts continuous.

You can hook up a meter to the output with no load, and see if it generates the Voltage require to meet Ohms law. Take this unloaded voltage and and use it for ohms law for 8 and 4 ohm load.
If it can't do the voltage unloaded, it can't do it loaded.

If you hook up a load, it only has to meet that voltage peak for 30ms or so for it to be rated at the calculated peak power.
All MI amps do this shenanigans (St. Patrick's day is coming)
No two MI amp makers agree on any power rating. Same for cabinets.
So buy Bugera brand cabinets to go with their Bugera heads, and make them stick to their advertised ratings should anything blow out. :)

But this amp has really got a 2000W RMS power or the manufacturer is exchanging this value with the peak program one just as a bait ? @agedhorse what do you think of it?
I'd like to buy a Mesa TT800 but it's out of budget for me because it's fairly new and I can't find any second hand one in Italy.
This Bugera is cheap and seems to be well built but who can find speakers of that power, giving for granted that we're talking about RMS power?

I think the consensus around here is that the 2000w figure is somewhere between wildly optimistic to utter BS depending on your level of cynicism.

But as @agedhorse points out, until consumer law would be changed to make all audio devices pass/publish a common set of tests so consumers could honestly compare apples to apples, manufacturers and their marketing departments can claim just about anything with little kickback.

I need much less but if I were to buy one I would have liked to know the power of the cabinets to be connected to it …
Law aside, it's not that serious for a manufacturer to avoid disclosing such important information.
With that said, it seems that people who bought one are satisfied about its tone and the price is surely appealing …

And it adds a into the brand identity the question of what WON'T their other products do either.

That's a one-way was street, and I'm not picking on Berhinger, they're hardly alone at this.

I agree and it is even not justifiable in any ways, technically speaking .. you may just try to listen for real users impressions/opinions, although going on stage should be supported by more solid grounds
