i'm also a big fan of GK and recently picked up the Legacy 800 head. Mine is paired with a GK Neo 212 (8 ohm). There is some special sauce inside that head. I am impressed with the tone coming out of that thing whenever I play through it. Great amp.

That is a great head, I just broke mine out again last night with a Barefaced Super Compact and Super Mini so basically a 2x12. It was glorious with the low boost switch up. The only thing I miss from the RB series is that Boost control. It provided a really sweet growly overdrive that I can't seem to get out of the drive circuit. The clean channel on the Legacy has some baked in Boost which you can control with the input gain so I guess that makes up for it. We played to about 100 people in a heated tent last night and I provided all of the low end from my rig. Our PA can't handle the bass. I got a lot of complements on the sound. My bass was a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang with Labella Mustang flats. Tone and volume up full. Take a listen here. I recorded this with one of those little Zoom H1 32 bit recorders so it is basically the sound in the house.

Very nice! I had a bass stack that was collecting dust for a long time. So I decided to move it out. I still have a tube Bassman amp for when I play my original gig. But for most of my gigs I go direct now.

But in a year or two I might work on getting another small stack. I do love a good bass amp setup.

I went full old school recently. Sold my Fuchs head, put my GK MB500 on backup duty and went back to this - found at a local GC purely by accident. I love GK RB heads paired with my 20+ year old Aguilar GS212 cabinet. Haven't found anything modern that compares.

Same. I know many up here disagree, but I couldn't get what I wanted out of a class D and Neo setup.

No comparison IMHO.

My problem is when I find "my old rig" somewhere (trade-in, etc.,) and plug into it, it sounds nothing like I remember. And that is most like my memory. Nostalgia tends to make me remember all things better than they were. The "old school" sound I remember is not what I hear when I find an old rig that used to be my favorite.

Having said that, last weekend I played a 14- or 15-year old Shuttle 6.0 and Shuttle 2x10 cab, and it was excellent. I remember my very old Bassman 135, 2x15 Bassman cab as being huge, but I replaced the cab with a single 1x15 LabSeries for a reason. Glad you found what you like. I don't think I will ever find mine.
