NAD! Markbass Minimark

I have a Minimark (2x6 version) and love it. The speakers are heavy duty B&C and will take high wattage. I used to put a preamp before the input and boost the signal which makes the combo much louder.

I also had mine adapted by having a jack socket installed that cuts off the head part and allows it to be used as an extension cab.
It sounds great with my NS EUB and I have used it with various 1x12 markbass cabs to great effect.

Just to add, B&C discontinued the cast speaker chassis that the original speakers were based on and replaced their model with a stamped chassis version. This may have had an influence as to why Markbass moved speaker production to Indonesia.

I have owned numerous Italian and Indonesian heads and see no drop in quality. The first 800w class D heads were a different design to the newer ones and I love my Class D TTE801 even more than my old class A/B TTE500.

As we’ve established in this thread, I’m very pleased with mine. After toying with lots of mini-stack ideas (ELF, Phil Jones C2, et al.) this ended up being a very inexpensive all-in-one solution. Add an inverter and a battery and we have a great to-go option that will come in handy during the Age of Coronavirus where we play outdoors exclusively.

It developed a problem with the driver long after warranty that they repaired, but I remember when Markbass first came to Canada, and everyone scooped up those NY121 cabinets and CMD121p combos. The idea of a cabinet about the size of the old Roland Cube-100 was really attractive to a lot of people. Then, about a year or so later, I started to see lots of repairs on them, or people dumping them on the used market. Tonnes of people were getting rid of them and this was still before they moved production of those speakers to Indonesia. The CMD121s often showed up with replaced power supplies, scratchy pots, or failed XLR jacks. Weird.

All this time my NY121 kept going, but I saw lots with blown tweeters, and cracked SpeakON connectors, and even a bunch of blown woofers.

"Tonnes of people getting rid of them" sounds somewhat too frightening.:rolleyes:
I bought my CMD121P in 2009 and it is still going strong. My NY121P bought in 2018 is also doing fine.

In the EU a 2-year warranty is mandatory by law, so that's all you get by all manufacturers of all products. Nothing like the consumer pampering in the US.

I benefit a lot by EU standards for software ownership and super long warranties. And things like ROHS which does exist in the US, yet many manufactures follow it because they need to also sell in EU.
Many things that EU does that are just worldly sensible. My hope is soon US will get back on this worldly track starting mid January 2021 ;)
