Issue is people wanting equipment cheap, that "can" mean using the cheapest outsourced third party vendor. Hard to blame any company for giving people what they are asking for.

You may want to tap on Jerrold Tiers shoulder if you get it. Jerrold has a strong PWM class D background. That is if you decide to tackle it further or just get a replacement board.

Yesterday I finally tried the tung sol in my SVT7yesterday... Nice bass and mids, lots of headroom, but a little roll of in the highs... very warm and open sound !!This tube has a nice clean vintage character in it IMO... The best tube for me would be a mix of that tung sol bass and mid warmth, but with the driven highs of the electro harmonic one !! I'm still not sure about which one will stay in... I'll have to make my mind or try others...

I heard a rumor that if an Ampeg repair shop let a schematic leave the premisses, then that shop would loose the ability to be a licensed authorized service center.
I doubt that the issue is to protect patents as no one has mentioned company proprietary components, and it certainly could be reverse engineered.
As I recall, the MB LMII went through this same scenario until it surfaced on the internet.
So, a company that had an initial production unit with issues, followed by 2 revisions, doesn't want the out of service amp to be repaired by others?
B-String and other techs; is this issue of protecting schematics with threat of loosing repair authorization real?

I have never been privy to the actual agreements but every shop I worked for we were instructed: We service brands that frown on releasing schematics, our policy is not to give out copies. If a customer wishes one, supply them with the manufacturer contact.

I have had my 7 PRO for like 2-3 years and it just cut off on me at a gig right in the middle of a song.. I found a shop that did warranty work said they had a 5 year warranty by ampeg and to get it there to them.. it is in the shop for 3 - 4 weeks. REV C as well.. I will let you know what happens..

zombie thread update! after my SVT7-Pro died more than three years ago, I just shelved it until I could find more info on what might have caused the issue of not powering up and frying the 1 ohm 1 watt resistor in the power supply.
I've had the schematics for it for 3 years, so today I decided to remove the main PCB and remove the ICEA165 chip on it. I soldered in an 8 pin socket in its place and then installed in a new chip and 1 ohm resistor. it works perfect again and I am very happy.
it turns out that a $2 part was the problem. removing the blown chip and installing the new socket was the hard part.

Very interesting. I wonder what took out the resistor and chip in the first place. But at any rate, glad you're back in business with it!

I have no idea, but it was starting to act up going in and out of standby just before it died, but the blown chip is what fried the resistor.
