I tried a lot of them and ended up with a Traynor YBA-200 that I got for $450 used from Guitar Center. Driven to pre-amp breakup, it sounded a lot like the Meatsmoke clean channel, but with a more flexible EQ. Another one I liked a lot was the Ashdown Lil' Stubby, but that's more money for fewer watts.
Another ridiculously heavy option but has any ever played through a Sadowsky SA200? Seems badass but for the cost + weight I might as well just get a vintage SVT. Just curious. I love my Sadowsky NYC JB4. Any thoughts?
I bought an SA200 in 2020. Haven't gigged it due to the pandemic, but it has the glorious tone I remembered from when I first tried it. Kind of a cushiony sound, I guess, but the controls make it pretty flexible--it can get quite detailed in the highs, for example.
I love the sound of an SVT, but the weight difference is actually massive. 85 lbs. vs. about 40 for the SA200. The Sadowsky is far more manageable for me.
That said, I also have an Ampeg V4-B reissue (which weighs about the same as the Sadowsky) and it sounds great in its own right. It's also cheaper and much easier to find.
Thanks! I guess I read incorrectly. I thought the SA200 was 80+ lbs. 40 is much more manageable. Any idea where I can find one? I'll definitely check out the V4-B. I played through a friends 1973 Blueline SVT and vintage 8X10 a few weeks ago (haven't done that in probably 15-20 years) and it is incredible. I started thinking maybe it's worth it. Then I picked up my Epifani 999 that is 1,000 watts and weighs 4 lbs (gigged with it for about 5 years now) and am super conflicted!!

I have a few, but the Prodigy has been such a great little workhorse of an amp. I generally play 3 weekends a month, so get lots of mileage, I've been playing again non-stop since march 2021. And at 29 lbs is easy to take virtually anywhere.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I've seen those and I like but I've never had the chance to play through one so not sure. Nothing on Reverb right now but I'll definitely check it out when I can. That's a powerful amp I'm sure!!
