I've heard negative comments about each and one of 'em. Especially Mark King. Also, I'd like to disagree on Paul Mcarty because although I find him to be a very solid bassist, there's nothing to sacrifice a pint of virgin blood for. If you roll the dice, all bassists must be hated by someone.
However, although my time here in this forum has been a little short, I've never heard any negative comments about Stu Hamm.
On the other hand, I believe that I've never, ever have heard anything bad about Jeff Berlin.
We love him so much.

Always. Never. Everyone. No one. Absolutes that should be stricken from everyone's vocabulary, always; uttered by no one; and spoken never. Because, after all, there are no absolutes. Ever.
Really? As much as I personally like Jeff (seen him live twice, ability to play with no PA = genius whilst showing of MarkBass amps haha), I've heard many bad things (sadly) said about him.
Glad to see Wilton Felder and Joe Osborn get a mention. Each of them have some serious credits, and both are tremendously nice guys.
I'll tell you about my favorite bassist, and a bassist I think everyone will agree is the best: Nobody.
Nobody has played probably longer than anyone else in music, and because of this has as deep an understanding of music than anyone else around today. Nobody has the perfects chops to play the perfect bass solo in any genre, but understand the need of space enough to fit it in anywhere. Also, speaking of genres, Nobody as played in EVERY genre imaginable, because Nobody is just that kind of bass player.
Whenever you have the chance, give a listen to Nobody. I guaruntee you will not be disappointed.
