The EP You mean? Yeah, I like that one too, but somehow I can't seem to really like Vermicular Asphyxiation all that much, though I can't fault the masterpiece-ness (lolwut?) of the whole thing. A Sting Op is an awesome track.

But now I'll mention Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Pt. 2, badass record in every way with a weird sense of humour and insane instrumentation.

+1 This, to me, is their best work. Great band!

The first 2 Los Straitjackets Cds are masterpieces! In my top 20 all time best and favorite's list. These Instrumental Cds have been called, "Surf-a-Billy" by some. This music imbodies all that is American Rock n Roll. Very, very nice clean Fender Strat guitars with Chuck Berry/Rock a Billy guitar riffs by Eddie Angel. MUST HAVE MUSIC! Music 2die4.

Será by La Vida Bohéme. Genre: Alternative Rock.
Released earlier this year, it was nominated to the Latin Grammys for best Rock album, and for best rock song, for the track "Hornos de Cal".

A huge masterpiece, in my opinion. La Vida Bohéme is a Venezuelan band. This album talks mostly about the situation in Venezuela, which is not good at all. It blends a lot of styles, mainly rock, with grunge, electronic music, joropo, etc.

The Tubes "Completion Backward Principle" gets my vote. The track "Talk To Ya Later" from this album was the closest thing The Tubes had to a hit in the early MTV days. The Tubes started as a shock rock act with elaborate stage shows and costumes, which means they never received the recognition they deserved as musicians. Completion Backward is an excellent example of the great songwriting (with a sense of humor) and excellent vocals and musicianship. Rick Anderson is a very under-rated bassist and plays some very funky lines on tunes like "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman".

I can't imagine the work required to score music directly to a film, I love the track Vermicular Asphyxiation.

Extreme: 3 sides to Every Story. Genre? Funky Metal/Hard Rock.

One of THE most underrated concept albums of all time.

And Extreme gets labeled as a HAIR METAL act, when they really weren't.

i have to agree; an amazing body of work. fantastic songwriting and playing. the only weak link in that band was the original drummer; he couldn't swing when everyone else was. I read in an interview once that nuno echoed this sentiment.

You do need a long attention span for it, it is a 45 minute long song split into 45 sections, but start it up and go along for the weird and wonderful ride

And Silver Blues, he worked with his brother in Spastic Ink and Both played on Ink Complete. And glad to help you find new bands

The Machinations of Dementia by Blotted Science. Instrumental progressive death metal (or something to that end). Incredible, incredible, incredible. Every single damn note has a purpose and I think Ron Jarzombek came from the same planet Neil Peart did.

As much as people who know them tend to bash it, I am in love with Scale the Summit's The Migration. It's one of the few albums I can listen to front to back without wanting to skip over anything. Mark Michell is an amazing bassist, and the album is full of awesome bass lines and moments. It's also IMO STS' heaviest album, which is always good in my book.

I was listening to Machinations of Dimentia earlier today. Good stuff.

I've heard a few Scale The Summit songs but never a full album. I think I'll check out the one you mentioned.

My pick of unknown masterpieces is Lykathea Aflame's Elvenefris. I'm not sure how unknown they are to people who listen to Metal. They only put out one album and every track is great. Unfortunately it's no longer being produced. I'll post a Youtube link after work.
