I've seen a lot of love for the GK 400RBs in this thread...
There's a 400RB III on my local CL in excellent condition for "asking $195", so I googled a bit and got the impression they were a bit weak for live use, at least in a loudish band.
Do y'all play quiet, or am I misinformed?

*which are a '66 Ampeg B-15N, a '94 Eden WT400 and a '93 Ampeg SVT-3 Pro.
A recent Aguilar TH500 was only barely edged out by the 3-Pro, and it was very close.
And those are only the favorites I happen to own. It would have been a much harder decision if I included amps I've played through, but didn't own because then early SVTs, Trace Elliots and Traynors would be in the running... so many great amps, so little time!OK, favorite 3 and 1 honorable mention.

I was forced to buy this one because it was the only available used amp when my Hartke fried. It's my main amp now...I dig that aural exciter circuit and the transparency control.

I've owned all of these but ended up moving them along for a lightweight mesa d800 rig that I'm still probably in the honeymoon phase with. the Verellen was definitely my favorite amp I've ever had but my back doesn't miss it too much.
