Name Your 3 Favorite Amps

Gk 1000RB / Mesa boggie 400/ original real Trace Elliot 600 tube/solud state from the 90s !

You number one looks like my usual set-up ... rock solid but really well worn! Lately I've left my 400rb at home in favor of a 200MB as a back-up. alot lighter and also acts as my DI back-up. My 400rb pre-dates DI.

My 400 is from 88', so it too lacks the XLR. I have used my much newer 800RB's XLR and found it not only to be post eq only, but I had to crank *both* Volume and "300 watts"(Master level) to get any signal...Bstring told me this *isnt* normal and the Opamp's need replacing, I might even have it upgraded/modded by that guy in CA who is well known for his GK modifications (if it isn't too crazy $$$)!? This'll wait till after I get myself the Microtubes 700 though!!;)

1) Traynor DB800H - own and always will.

2) Ampeg SVT-CL - is part of the venue / festival provided back line for maybe 35% - 40% of my gigs and I've always been extremely happy with my experiences.

3) Trace Elliot GP12SMX - there is an old beat up one of these in the rehearsal room my band rents. The first time I laid eyes on it, I wanted to find a different room. Over the past year or so, I seemed to have developed a sentimental bond with the old guy (I'm sure the 6 x 10 Mesa cab has something to do with it too though).

I've never tried the DI on my 800rb. It's burried in the back of my rack if it has one. I use a VT bass and run 1/4 to the gk and di to the house. If either di or amp glitch the 200mb fits either role just fine.
