Narrowed it down to two basses - which one?

Local GC has a used 2004-2005 Warwick Corvette Standard V for $799 and a new MIA Jazz V for $975 like them both equally for different reasons (love the look and feel of the warwick - love the classic look and sound of the jazz).

Trying to decide which one will be better longer term for playing rock and funk and doing some home recording (I'm primarily a guitar player).

The other factor to consider is which is a better deal at the respective prices (if I decide to trade or sell the bass in a few months or a year - which one will I take the bigger hit on).

Any input is appreciated!

I'd go for the Warwick, although the Fender would be much easier to sell if you decided you didn't like it.

The Corvette can get a pretty good Jazz thing going for it, but the Jazz will never sound like a Corvette. Depending on who you are and what you're going for, this could be a good or bad thing.

One bonus about the Corvette - it will never get lost in the mix, and harmonics just leap right out of it. One of my favorite things about them.

Because I am non conformist like most people, I say Jazz too. Not a big warwick fan though, so I was biased.

If you like them equally, and one is 175$ cheaper, i think id pick that one

I'd go Jazz. Just bought a MIA 08 Jazz, and love it.

Jazz. Go for the sound, looks aint every thing. I play a beat up Framus, and you wouldnt expect any quality sound from it... But it grabs peoples attention and blows me away. And Yes a MIA will retain and gain value much better down the road. So if your sceptical about it, resale will be much easier and you pry wont take a loss. JAZZ!

I say Jazz but that's because I think Warwicks, including the Corvette, are ugly.

Long term, I think the Jazz for investment and resale value.

The jazz bass is a better deal. Resale value mainly. The Warwick's you can get used for less than that.

That's a tough one. Both basses are pretty close to their used price. Jazz basses have never really done it for me so I would probably go with the Corvette. Plus it costs less.

Fender got it right with the latest Jazz Standard V. I'd rock that in a second compared to the Warwick. I had a Vette Standard V. It had a unique tone but it just didn't agree with my hands.
