I'd leave the badge, but replace the bridge, then you can stick an ashtray on (will it fit beside the badge?
Why bother with an ashtray now, people have been putting their cigarettes out on the headstock for the last 40 years.
I kid, I think it looks great, instruments are meant to be used, they shouldn't all be worn down to the ground but it's okay if one is. I would just give it a wipe down and clean off the finger crud from the fret board.
I should've said if if looks good...too new.Can you not see the rest of the bass?
Wow!! I can't believe the amount of response I got from this bass. Thanks to everyone for your comments and opinions. I feel like the reaction alone is worth the price I am paying. Plus it's one of the best playing basses I've ever put my hands on...I am really looking forward to continuing its journey and passing it on eventually to the next appreciative player. I know I lucked out acquiring it. I don't know whether or not I am taking that "badge " off but I know it's going to be great either way!!!!

That actually crossed has crossed my mind. It seems the value would go up a bit if I did. Although, I really like the idea of how beat it is...
