Natural Ash basses are boring

In all seriousness, I do like a nice natural chunk of wood, but with a little flavor, maybe a bit of a dark stain or even roasted body.

I like bright colors, have no interest in black or natural finish or tort guards. But to each his own.

The appearance of ash and maple basses made me want to play bass over any player. To me, it's simply a beautiful look.

Ash typically has a big grain pattern. I like big ash and I cannot lie.

Not my first choice, but I have no beef with it. I like seeing wood grain, and blonde is noice (on guitars, too). Also consider appearance on stage under lights vs. in the practice studio.

Dunno. I might have agreed until I was able to recently buy this closet queen “mutt” ‘75 P with ‘69 J neck off bandmate. Back of neck matches front due to aging. With ash discontinued by Fender, it’s even more appealing to me now.

Yes, paint is everything. It makes bass/guitar so much more than just wood and strings.
