NBA Finals Thread

sad to say , but i think it may come down to officiating .
i don't want to seem paranoid or conspiracy theorist , but , ...

S.A. is not a " big market draw " , and David Stern desperately
wants the NBA to sell advertising spots ...
his solution ? officiating . plain and simple .

the NBA does not like the Spurs TEAM play ,
as it negates the " Super Star " elites
and does little to push sales of the newest Nike , Addias , Sprite , etc. ...

boring ?
people can talk trash about the Spurs { dirty players , flopping , etc. }
but as a TEAM , they are among the best ever .
more assists average per game , extra pass points ,
and overall TEAM offense and defense .
Coach Popovich has put together a group of guys who know about team commitment ,
and it just seems to defy the laws of the NBA .
no , i don't think that the Spurs are boring at all ...

... maybe Stern should think of the Spurs as an example of team play ,
and try to come up with a new marketing strategy ...

You know, it`s something that`s been the KEY factor in FIBA basketball. It`s no longer a surprise that US National Teams have been repeteadly defeated over the last years.

European basketball is mainly focused in team playing as opposed to superstar playing. Teams like Spain or Argentina have already showed that. The best example is probably Greece. Their national team made a great WC and hasn`t NBA players.

I`m an absolut NBA fan and watch games since I was a kid. Don`t feel the same about International Basketball since it`s not so attractive, but if we talk about effectiveness vs show business, then it`s a different story.

Game 3 was one of the most horrible ones I`ve seen in a long time. That`s the kind of match that makes so many people dislike basketball.

Hard to believe that even playing so bad, the Spurs are just a step away from the title. I see no chance of a Cleveland comeback.

ya' know , i thought the same thing ...

but actually , to LeBron's credit , he said in the post game interview
that the foul really didn't make any difference ,
and that the foul didn't make him miss that shot ....

some bad calls for both teams , but with the Spurs
playing as awful as they did ,
the Cav's should've been able to win that one .

give Cleveland some credit ,
they didn't make it to the finals by being swept by anyone , and this series is not over yet ...

game four should be very intense .

Does anyone here still think a SA / Detroit finals would have been less enjoyable then that fiasco last night? No sour grapes, the Pistons certainly didn't deserve to go. But David Stern needs to realize that there was only one Michael Jordan, and his quest to market the game exactly like the MJ era is actually bad for the game. Maybe it's time to remember that basketball is a team game. Does any one think MJ would have shot 9-23 in a must win finals game? Of course looking at the ratings, I'm not sure anyone watched anyway.

team play is very ewxciting i mean 5 guys woeking as one always knowing where eahother is on the court

It's a sad commentary on the state of the NBA, and really the public's taste in general. People feign disdain for the $100 million, "it's all about me", Sportscenter highlight reel guys, and yet those are the guys people talk about and want to see. The Spurs bore people to death. They punch the clock and go to work, nothing fancy about it. It's not exciting and it gets low ratings, but this team knows how to win championships. That used to be what it was all about.

This series is painful to watch. The Spurs deserve a lot of credit for making everyone they play look so bad, but I always prefer to watch a competitive game as opposed to a dominant performance by one player/team.

Aside from the Spur/Suns series, every game of which I honestly enjoyed, this postseason has been a tremendous letdown (and even that series finished on an unceremonious note). Sigh. The NBA is the last diversion I have before there's nothing between me and watching the Pirates suck all summer long.

Perhaps the worst NBA finals I've ever seen. Not only were that Cavs simply outclassed. They looked clueless. Daniel Gibson reverted back to the rookie nobody he was before the Detroit series. And Lebron looked very unjordan like. I'm just embarrassed that I thought the Cavs could win two games, My bad.:hmm:

I`m just so happy about it.
Cavs played really bad during the whole series. I still find hard to believe that they defeated the Pistons.

Hats off to SA "big three", they`ve made the difference during the whole playoffs.

Sorry, about those who care about TV ratings, it`s not my thing.

After watching the Cavs, I hope Joe Dumars fires Flip Saunders.

Considering the makeup of the Spurs, I bet international ratings were at an all-time high. Since ABC owns those TV rights, too, that would explain why they are chomping at the bit to renew their NBA contract despite poor domestic ratings.

Doesn't matter to me, though. The Spurs won and the Suns fans are still complaining. Best of both worlds for me!
