who else is thinking that the imbalance between the east and west will necessitate a reorganization of the divisions in an attempt to get some sort of balance?

or at least just reorganizing the playoffs.

and with durant and oden going to the west, i think the east will be hurting for a long time.

well the east is going down hill....altho im expecting the raptors to make a run next year (their not winning i know that much). I think that Colangelo will make some very good deals for the raptors which will get them back to at least 3rd in the east...

I don't know if i totally agree. Certainly two of the best young players Brown and Wade are in the east. I also think two of the best young teams, Chicago and Washington (I consider Utah the third) are in the east. And Oden has a long way to go before your talking about his name in the same breath with the word championship. Also two of the most overrated teams are in the West, Dallas and Phoenix. No question that SA is the head and shoulder over the rest of the league right now.

Here's the way I'd rank the top ten teams right now (end of season), disregarding the draft or salary caps considerations.

1) San Antonio: Not even arguable

2) Detroit: How did this team lose FOUR STRAIGHT to a miserable Cleveland team? Cockiness and lack of defensive effort, and mediocre coaching. Along with Lebron having a once in a lifetime game 5. I still have to rank Detroit up there because they've won something and they took SA to seven two years ago in the finals.

3) Phoenix: No defense, No title. The MVP can't guard ANY of the other quality point guards in the league. I don't see them getting any better.

4) Utah: Was star struck in the playoffs by SA, but they had an excuse, it was there first real run. If AK became half the player he was two years ago and they get a two guard look out.

5) Cleveland: They play good D ( a big plus), they work hard. But I see little reason why they will get better. The only exception to this is Daniel Gibson. He must get starter minutes. I doubt they will be in the conference finals next year.

6) Chicago: I like there style, I'm just not sure how they can get better. On paper there better then Cleveland, they just have too many mismatches with there small back-court. And no low post presence.

7) Washington: No D, But almost as good an offense as Phoenix. There big three (Arenas, Butler and Jamison) could carry them a long way with a modicum of low post presence.

8) Miami: Wade, Half Shaq and what else? This team is due for a major makeover, but D Wade is a far better clutch player then LB and a tougher cover (better outside shot, foul shooter). For that reason, alone they'll be pretty good.

9) Dallas: Team needs to make a big trade, they just don't posses a big game mentality. Even with his quirks I would still take Rasheed over Dirk Noshowski in a big game and he's there best player? They are tremendously overrated because there system works well during the regular season, but it breaks down hopelessly when a big games on the line.

10) Golden State: On paper there very much like WA. Three big guns and little or no inside presence. Nelly is a great offensive coach. But theirs to much volatility here for much future hope. 1) Will Davis be Healthy? 2) Will Jackson keep the real guns in the holster around the strip clubs?

Perhaps the worst NBA finals I've ever seen.
Not only were that Cavs simply outclassed. They looked clueless.
I'm just embarrassed that I thought the Cavs could win two games, My bad.

yeah , i sure thought the Cav's had at least one win in them ...
S.A. didn't even play their "A" game , and still won ... oh well .

Lowest-rated Finals of all time, most likely. Except among Spurs fans.

to me , it was a defensive shut-out , and the Spurs proved they won't fold in a crisis ...

Cavs played really bad during the whole series.

TD, while a tad underwhelming in this series, is a heckuva player to build a dynasty around...
And "underwhelming" might be a bad choice of words.
He had an off night last night and still had a double-double.

Considering the makeup of the Spurs, I bet international ratings were at an all-time high.

i think that the international players make all the difference in the Spurs makeup .
unselfish , talented , team minded players who don't mind the label of " boring " ...

I don't think that's going to work. I remember when the East won eight out of ten championships and had Shaq and Penny in Orlando along with 'zo and LJ in Charlotte. Nobody was complaining about it then because the western teams were good enough to win a couple of games against the Bulls, and were actually entertaining to watch even if they didn't win championships.

And nobody forced the GMs in the East to pass on guys like Brandon Roy, Rudy Gay, Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony. When you have terrible GMs in your three biggest East markets, it's a problem. When Isiah has so many bad contracts that he can't sign any free agents when their rookie contracts are up, it's a problem. When you have the fans with a reality TV mentality wanting to see drama rather than sports, it's a problem. When you have morning talk show hosts that don't stay up late enough to watch the games but give their opinions anyway, it's a problem.

The Spurs are going to be in the conversation for at least three or four more years, so someone at Disney or the NBA had better figure out how to market them to Americans.
