I didn't plan it, but ended up buying a Fender American Std, Deluxe V for my 60th BD (next month). I didn't post any pics at 1st because my original plan was to exchange it for a black one and order a white pickguard thereby replicating my 1st non knock off/copy bass that I purchased 44 years ago, a '71 AS Jazz. This one is so perfectly put together with no dead spots or faults that I can see, that I decided to keep this one besides the hassle and wait (2 month back order) of ordering the black bass and the separate pickguard. I know I'm still in the honeymoon phase here, but I gotta say that I think I've finally found THE sound I've been looking for with this one, and that it EXCEEDS the quality and versatility of my '71 (what I can remember of it at least, which admittedly aint that much). There's a passive/active switch and a tone control that works in the passive mode. The N3 pups that they've been using since 2010 apparently are punchy, and provide the sound I've been looking for all these years in the Snarl and Growl Department, and......they're QUIET! It comes with an 18v pre so there's no clipping at all with that active pre. The headstock has 3 trees, so there's no open buzz with this one. No buyers remorse so far. Played it this morning and I'm still smiling!
