I don't believe I've ever seen one of these before, but it certainly looks both interesting and different in a manner that is pleasing, at least to my eyes.

I can't help but wonder at the string location centered between the pole pieces. I always thought that was supposed to be a "dead zone".

looks like 1928! (I like it) from wiki, links not included: A Duesenberg car was the first American car to win a Grand Prix race, winning the 1921 French Grand Prix. Duesenbergs won the Indianapolis 500 in 1922, 1924, 1925 and 1927. Transportation executive Errett Lobban Cord acquired the Duesenberg corporation in 1926. The company was sold and dissolved in 1937.
I’ve owned a Duesenberg bass. They are the best! Craftsmanship unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Enjoy that bass!
i don't recall ever seeing an EB like that one --- but wow! --- it sure has a 'luxury' look about it! glad it has the right feel to it. congratulations on your new instrument!

I never played their basses, but their guitars are amazing and I assume this is nothing less than that. How useful is the passive mid control?

Just picked up a 5-string version exactly like yours (even has a tiny ding in the lower bout like in the photo). These seem to be pretty rare, especially the 5 string version. I've seen dozens of the hollow body Starplayer basses listed.
