I have three 70's Fender right now - a 72 Jazz, a 74 Jazz, and a 78 P fretless. I went through well over a dozen to find these. All light weight, great build quality, sound great ...all three of them keepers.

Congrats on this one, looks like a beaut!!

Excellent point. Some of these basses were abused early in life, some need frets because they've been played to death, some were dogs that never played or sounded great right out of the box, and some are magic.

- Your mission Jim, should you decide to accept, it is to find the magic ones. They used to be so cheap to buy in the 70's especially if they were scratched up.

Case is super clean and even has the keys...I've never seen keys in person...Crazy.

Sweet! My 69 has been fantastic. I don't know that much changed from69 to 71. Great find!

Maybe. I usually find the people who disliked these instruments back in the day have no idea how to do things like adjust saddle height and truss rod relief. So, naturally, it wouldn't play too great. Nice bass op!

Love the rosewood with MOP blocks. Gorgeous. And I'm partial to the 70's TV logo on the headstock.

Amazing the keys are still there. When I bought my first bass back in the 80's, the guy at the music store said:

"Here are the keys to your bass case. THROW THEM AWAY RIGHT NOW. Because if you ever LOCK your case and can't find the keys, you're screwed."

So I've never, ever seen or used case keys since.
