what an awesome trade. all i get is offers for prs guitars, modified squiers and mutilated parts basses.

it also looks pretty swell, too --- congratulations on your new instrument! 
That kind of threw me off and then I googled 1975 p bass and found a bunch of other ones with that same screw placement
I'm usually in the same boat. I had a 1967 fender deluxe reverb that I snagged for a great deal on Craigslist. Luckily I found a guy that had this that was more of a guitar player.

Congrats, that's a beautiful bass. The buttercream finish with maple board and black pickguard is always a winner in my book.
Incidentally, Last year I played a guy's '75 sunburst P and it remains the finest Fender bass I've ever laid my hands on. It sounded fantastic, fit 'n finish was just flawless, and it had a beautiful aged patina one might expect from a 45 year old instrument.

That's beautiful man! I was secretly in my head saying "don't scroll, you know it's a natural ash chopping board" but I listened to one of the other voices "but what if it's not?". Man I'm glad I listened to THAT one because that is heckacool! Enjoy!
Is the finish on the left called "sable"?
I had a '76 Jazz that color with maple B&B neck, but I can't remember the name of that finish. Sahara? Sable?
My head hurts.
My '75 has that screw. I didn't have to go look because I remember getting gouges in my plucking finger's nail from popping. I was definitely a different player way back then and had different stuff flowing through me, chiefly a 20 year old's testosterone/adrenaline. Good times.
