NBD! 1976 Azureglo Rickenbacker 4001

When you randomly scroll through Facebook marketplace and you find a '76 Azureglo 4001 5 minutes away, you have no other choice but to snag it! A really great 4001 that has been sitting since 1994 when it was purchased at a Detroit guitar show. Super thin neck and low action. Turned out to be all original as well. How about that purple case?!

I had a '78 just like that, don't remember the case color though but my '79 4001's case is blue inside.

Nice! Yeah, I am unsure about the case liner it's interesting. I've seen mostly blue and black liners and a dark red / purple as well. As compared to my other 70's and 80's Ric cases it is correct.

Oh yeah, it looks original, I've probably had a few of those, I had one once with a big plastic Rickenbacker insignia on the outside.

Score!! Great bass. I had a 74 4001 for 34 years. Congrats! Dig the color. Wasn’t as ware that was an option.

I had one exactly like that. It was my first “real” bass. Bought it in a pawnshop in the late 70s for about $400.

I had a 4003 for over a decade, recently got rid of it because I was tired of fighting the Rick quirks. Still fond of them though.

Amazing know-it-when-you-hear-it sound, and probably one of the best looking guitar designs of all time! And this finish is just chef’s kiss.
