NBD: 1981 G&L L-1000

compares EXTREMELY well.... I prefer the front loader electronics, but these new ones ar light, choice of necks, and they come plek'd. I believe they copied the circuit of the early ones, so these BABP editions sound REALLY nice. I wondered if I'd be impressed or not (having owned like 7-8 L1K's over the years) and honestly it rocked my socks..
Cool. There is one similar to yours at GuitarManNYC.com but I am unsure about the slimmer neck. I usually like more of a Precision width.
Love the combo though.

here are two crappy pics the lighting in here is terrible. You guys would have loved the bass place/palace here in scranton. G&ls as far as the eye could see. I know where the owner lives i should stop by his house one day to see what he still has. He is one weird dude tho.

I remember the Bass Palace. He was a HUGE G&L lover and often kept the cream of the crops for himself. He sold them for top dollar at the time too but he had great stock.
Is he still there? The Swami? There is a Swami working at KeboBassWorks and I though maybe that was him. I never met him.

My 1980 L1k. I like it, but its been taking space in the closet for a while. Eventually I will get er set up and playing or trade it for magic beans. Nice score!
I know his real name is bob. bizarre guy one time my friend was buying a bassman off of him and just as he was buying it his lunch came and he told me friend if he wanted it he also had to buy him lunch. haha
he dosent have his shop any more. it was in a bad part of town and he got robed a few times from what i understand. Man do i miss that place. He always gave me breaks im a chef at a personal care home and a relative of his was there and i always fed him when he came in so he would give me deals. Plus if i was looking for something he would always try to find what i was looking for at the shows he went to. here are pics of my bass again.Invalid Link Removed

yea like i said i love it. Plays like a dream and sounds ohh so good. just have to find something a bit lighter. I have lupus and its just to much to handle at times. Im saving up money to try to get something else.

Maybe this will mean more G&L's in stock there. I always loved the Bass Palace site.
where you ever to his store? It was great so much more stuff then what was on his site. I know some people on here had problems with him but if i ever had an issue with anything he fixed it right away. Like one time i had an ibenez ergrodine(SP) bass that the action way high on it and he did a set up on it for me for nothing.

Thanks! That was actually a side project that I was planning on doing more with and I didn't. My main band is called the Lebowskis and it is very Riverdales/Ramones as well.

a 'hog L1K with ebony board has been on my GAS list for quite some time.
I really love my Precisions and Stingrays and I always felt the Wunkay will probably bridge the gap between the 'thump' and the 'burp' of the two.
there was an early 80's one on the FS section in excellent condition a few months ago with natural ash body and a maple neck - if I had the money back then it'd be hanging by my 1980 Ash/Maple 'Ray.
