The Fullerton reissues are different from any other AVRI - these instruments were built the the original Leo Fender shop using the original jigs and tools - these are considered “proto” custom shop instruments as the people who were involved in the line went on to form the custom shop

I didn't know that. That's awesome.

An 82 57 is still my birth year dream bass! But no way i can afford one now. And tbh I'm not sure the extra money would be worth it over what I already have.

I used to own an Olympic White '83 Fullerton. It was painted over sunburst, just like in the day. I bet you've got a nice surprise waiting for you as the bass gets used!

I have one too. Fullertons are great basses and compare well to original Fenders.

I posted a link to this previously, but rom Reverb, here's an interview with the late Dan Smith, one of the principals with the new Fender owners and what they faced when they acquired the Fender business in the early 80's and how they began the turnaround. The AVRI's were instrumental in that rebirth. Not the shortest read, but a great piece for the shape of CBS Fender by that time.

I laugh when he talks about their visit to Tokai in Japan and being caught flat-footed by the quality they found.

Reminds me how I bought a Fender Donald Duck bass (The japanese Duck Dunn Signature Fender Precision) for 400,- in the early 2000s. This kind of deals have become a rarity.
