NBD: 1983 Peavey Foundation

Just picked up this bad boy/girl for $200.

Seems to be all original including the bulletproof armor case. Loving the classic black with maple. Only thing missing is the rear control cavity cover which I'm thinking I could find somewhere eventually, cut one down to size from a larger cover, or have it 3D printed. Trying to assess how f*cked the neck is. Also someone decided to add another string tree maybe because of the two random holes on the front of the headstock. Can't think of another reason...

Overall I am very excite!

Ah, the Peavey Jazz Bass! I had one of those, I played it for a few years. I really liked it a lot, ended up using it as a trade toward a Rickenbacker back in 1990. The necks are thin and your concern about that is justified. Hopefully it's not totally borkened and you can enjoy it.

I had a red one about the same year, or maybe ‘84. I traded it for a 1987 Foundation “S” which I still have & still play. The “S” has a rosewood fingerboard & is black. It’s the best bass I own of 13 electrics and two uprights.

I had an '86 or '87 Foundation that I bought new. The repair guy at the music store put an additional string tree on the headstock to tame a buzzing open A string. Looking at the hole locations, I suspect yours had something similar. Nice score, BTW!
